Ginnie considers herself a multi-media artist concentrating on watercolor and collage in mixed media works. She creates her intuitive/ playful artwork in her studio which is surrounded by fields and gardens in the beautiful Upper peninsula of Michigan.
Her work is a playful and intuitive process of combining colors, texture and words into mixed media pieces that arrive from somewhere deep inside. inner thoughts and energies are applied into each piece of artwork through many layers of paint, gesso and other medium, including charcoal, pastels, collage, encaustic and found objects. Her abstract works are an experimental series of textures and colors, shapes and forms and often include words taken directly from her journal. The multiple layers of different materials tell a story and complexity of various life experiences - memories, journeys and her vision of natures elements. |
